Sometimes people come into your life for a reason.
No, I am not going to get all woo-woo on you, but wanted to give this post a bit of context beforehand.
About 5 weeks ago, I came across someone online who was about to radically transform not only my business, but my life, as well.
It happened to be a lady from Australia and I read a Facebook post of hers. Once I was done I immediately went to her website. I read 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 blog posts back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to….
I was hooked.
I sent a couple of these blog posts to some friends of mine.
They enjoyed them.
This lady was real, raw and relevant.
She un-apologetically spoke her truth.
She oozed passion and you could feel it in her writings, and you could see it in her videos. She puts out a DAILY blog post, and they are typically 2,000+ words. She puts out daily videos as well. She is a content producing machine.
I have devoured her blog content since discovering her. I’ve watched a lof of her Facebook live streams, her YouTube show, listened to a lot of her audios. Her message speaks to my soul.
Her name is Kat Loterzo.
And she’s changed my God damn business, and life, for the better.
More on her in a future blog post.
No More Laziness
I love producing content.
And I admired Kat’s ability to put out as much as she did. I know I can be a content producing machine, if I choose to be one.
I admit, I was lazy, but that all changed when I started following Kat.
She’s lit a fire in me, a fire that I have never felt before, but feels so right.
I AM a content producing machine.
The Fire is Burning
Here’s some proof she’s lit a fire in me…
I published 8 blog posts last month, totaling 8,218 words.
In the first 5 months of this YEAR, I published 8 blog posts, totaling 3,987 words.
I have written twice as many words in one month, as I have in 5 months.
On June 20th, I challenged myself (inspired by Kat) to shoot 30 videos in 30 days.
I am not a fan of getting on video and have shied away from it for years.
I talk about it more in this post.
Yesterday marked day #30 and I am happy to announce that I published my 31st video — I actually exceeded my goal.
I wanted to announce the challenge publicly, as I wanted to be held accountable. But honestly, I didn’t believe I could do it. I thought I would have wimped out and took the easy road.
But I didn’t. I did it.
I used Google Keep to jot down questions people were asking in these Facebook groups about Shopify.
I filmed myself answering these questions, and tried to keep it under 60 seconds.
Then I launched (click the image to check out the videos)….
I was on the phone yesterday with a coaching client, and he commented on these videos. Told me he was getting a lot out of value out of them and it seemed so “natural” to me.
That first video, I terrified. That first video, 31 days ago, feels like 10 was years ago.
I tried to do these videos all in one take and used the hashtag #ONEtake. I’d guess 26 or 27 of the 31 were one take.
Mistakes, “ums”, “ahs” are all included, for no extra charge to you 🙂
I have received 4 or 5 emails in the last week with people thanking me for the videos. They really enjoy the quick tips, and I had a feeling that would appeal to people. We are all busy. I absolutely hate watching a 17 minute video to get one little nugget from it, that could have been covered in a minute or two.
I try to keep it short, sweet and to the point.
So these people are getting value from these videos. These are videos that I could have produced a long time ago, but my insecurities held me back.
How to Skyrocket Your Confidence in 30 Days
Well, all this talk about videos, and it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t share one of the 31 videos, right?
How Do You Eat an Elephant?
I am 847% more confident than I was when I started this little challenge, just 31 days ago.
Now, I am not Brad Pitt on camera — yet!
But I am a different person on camera than I was a month ago.
The first couple days were not easy. I wanted to quit, but I did the work.
How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.
I did one video at a time and after the 3rd or 4th video, I was getting used to it. A lot of times, once I got one video done, I would shoot 4 or 5 back to back to back. It didn’t take long and I was hooked. I now am actively looking for ideas to do videos about, as I am having so much fun with them.
Any Effect on Your Bottom Line?
Of course, the most important question.
Has this put any greenbacks in my piggybank?
Well, the action I have taken in the last 30 days has been an increase of 3,901% (give or take) with the blog posts, videos and emails. I have also learned that I need to make more offers (thanks Kat) and has paid off handsomely, to the tune of an additional $5,200 in revenue in the last month.
Imagine that — I started sharing more value with my tribe, and the money followed.
A very valuable lesson to be learned there.
Give the video challenge a shot. Or say hi to 30 strangers in 30 days. I have not done this, but read about it years ago and it seemed to work very well for this blogger.
Remember — It’s like eating an elephant, just one bite (day) at a time.
